MacBook Air

The answer you entered to the math problem is incorrect.

At the Macworld keynote address, Steve Jobs introduced the MacBook Air. It has been dubbed the world’s thinnest notebook, measuring 0.16-inches at its thinnest and 0.76-inches at its maximum height. I think the closest competitor to the MacBook Air is a notebook from Sony.

Detailed specs can be found on the Apple site. An interesting piece of the MacBook Air is its processor. The processor that is used in the MacBook Air is based on Intel's 65 nanometer Merom architecture with an 800MHz bus. According to Intel, "The MacBook Air uses the Intel Core 2 Duo Processor and Intel 965GMS chipset with integrated graphics using a new miniaturized package technology. This new CPU and chipset allows for approximately 60% reduction in total footprint". According to rumors, Apple appears to have called on Intel to release the extra-small chip package before it was scheduled to arrive in the Montevina notebook platform in mid-2008.

In my opinion, smaller packages are not necessarily the best for all needs. The MacBook Air is not a performance machine or a desktop replacement with its slower and smaller processor, hard drive, 2GB of soldered on ram, and integrated graphics. The MacBook Air is more of a laptop companion machine for traveling or for light use.

I agree that the macbook air is most suitable for writers and journalists who are traveling all the time. I thought about buying one but I realized it wouldn't handle all the tings I've planned to run on it.

I'm now more aimed at the macbook pro as I need a stand alone graphics card for video rendering.
