Beyond IBM's tutorial: Suggestions for creating a profile in WAS 6.0

The answer you entered to the math problem is incorrect.

If you’re getting some odd messages from WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 6.0 when you try to publish a page, try the following:

1. Remove your project from your server
2. Delete the server
3. Add a new server (right click in the server window, then choose New > Server)
4. Add your project to the server
5. Publish

Often, this is all you'll need to get back on track, but if not you may need to create a new profile. I'm not going to describe this process, as IBM has documented it well, BUT, I found that just going through this tutorial wasn't enough to get me running again. So I'll discuss my experience.

First follow steps 1 and 2 above to delete the server. Then follow the instructions here: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/radhelp/v6r0m1/
index.jsp?topic=/com.ibm.ws.ast.st.v6.doc/topics/tcprofile.html.

Make a backup copy of your EAR file. Next delete your EAR file from within RAD/RSA/WID and choose to delete the files as well. Update your project, and do a project clean. Then, create your EAR file anew. (Right click on any whitespace in Project Explorer, then select New > Project. Create an Enterprise Application Project.) Add your project(s) to it. Next you'll need to add your EAR file to a server. Create a new server, as described in step 3 above, and be sure to select your new profile in step two of the creation wizard! This is key, because the old profile is set as the default. Add your EAR file to the new server. You'll also have to set up your JDBC connection again. You should be ready to go at this point!

I don't know if this works with WAS 6.1, but I would love to hear feedback on this.
